Keep your pets comfortable and secure at home while you’re away.
Our professional in-home pet sitting visits are designed to maintain your pet’s routine in the environment they know best. Whether you’re travelling, working long shifts, or away for the day, we provide reliable, structured visits tailored to your pet’s needs.
Led by a Registered Veterinary Technician and serving Ottawa West and South-West since 2010, we focus on safety, consistency, and calm, professional care.
Pet sitting is the act of caring for a pet in their own home while the owner is away — maintaining routine, comfort, and familiarity. According to Pet Sitters International, pet sitting refers to caring for pets in their own environment rather than relocating them to a boarding facility.
Professional pet sitting follows established industry standards that prioritize safety, clear communication, structured care routines, and respect for the client’s home. Organizations such as Canadian Pet Care Professionals and Pet Sitters International help define best practices within the pet care industry.
Our in-home pet sitting visits are scheduled throughout the day based on your pet’s age, health, and normal routine.
Some pets require two visits per day. Others may require three or four. We will help guide you based on your pet’s specific needs.
If your pet requires someone present overnight or you're looking for extended care, please see our Overnight or Bed & Breakfast services.

After collecting initial information and confirming availability, new clients are scheduled for an Initial Consultation.
This meeting is an important introduction that allows us to review routines, home access, and care expectations while ensuring your pet feels comfortable with their caregiver.
During the consultation, we will:
• Meet you and your pet(s)
• Review visit routines and home details
• Answer questions about services and scheduling
• Collect and test two house keys or review lockbox access
Services begin once this meeting has taken place.
A consultation fee of $25 (+ HST) applies to support administrative time and caregiver scheduling.
Vet Tech Pet Services requires two (2) working keys or two methods of entry whenever possible to support scheduling flexibility and emergency preparedness.
We understand that this may not always be feasible in apartments or secured buildings. In these cases, alternative access arrangements can be discussed during your consultation, such as:
• Lockbox access
• Concierge or building entry procedures
• Temporary key exchange planning
• Caregiver coordination
Clients may choose from the following key handling options:
Keys may be securely stored on file for future visits.
Key pick-up or drop-off can be arranged for a fee of $25 (+ HST) to help cover caregiver time and travel.
If keys are requested to be returned by mail, a key return fee plus Canada Post postage will be billed.
Clients may provide a lockbox, which can be purchased at most hardware stores. Lockboxes offer convenient access while reducing the need for additional key visits.
Vet Tech Pet Services does not offer a central key drop-off or pick up location. All key exchanges are arranged by appointment based on caregiver availability.

Visits are scheduled for 30, 45, or 60 minutes. The full visit time is focused on your pet’s routine, enrichment, and comfort. Longer visits may be recommended for multi-pet homes, separate walks, or pets requiring medical support.
Visits are scheduled within agreed service windows rather than exact clock times. Traffic, weather, and pet care needs may affect arrival time, and flexibility helps ensure safe, unrushed care for every pet.
Our typical visit windows include:
• Anytime (Cats & Critters only): 9 AM – 9 PM (1 visit/day)
• Morning: 7 AM – 10 AM
• Midday (dogs only): 11 AM – 3 PM
• Afternoon: 4 PM – 6 PM
• Evening: 7 PM – 9 PM
While we aim to remain within these windows whenever possible, occasional delays may occur due to route adjustments, pet emergencies, weather, or unexpected care needs. We appreciate client flexibility when schedules shift slightly, as this helps ensure every pet receives safe and attentive care.
Pets requiring medical treatments or stricter timing may be prioritized within scheduling windows. Clients requesting a shorter arrival timeframe (for example, a 1-hour window) may discuss availability during booking, and an additional scheduling fee may apply when feasible.
Holiday schedules may include extended working hours based on demand and caregiver availability.
Most visits are designed for multi-pet households. Additional fees or longer visits may be recommended when pets require separate routines, handling, or individualized care.
Basic medication is often incorporated within visit time when it can be safely completed as part of routine care. Advanced or time-intensive medical support may require a longer visit or an additional medical care fee.
When safe and appropriate, dogs may be walked together. Differences in size, behaviour, or home layout may require separate outings, which can affect visit length.
Two methods of entry are preferred whenever possible to support backup access and emergency preparedness. We understand this may not always be feasible in apartments or secured buildings, and alternative access arrangements can be discussed during your consultation.
• All new clients require an Initial Consultation ($25 + HST) prior to the start of services
• Visits are scheduled within service windows rather than exact clock times
• A deposit is required to confirm and secure booking dates
• Two methods of entry are preferred whenever possible to support scheduling flexibility
• Medical or complex care needs may require longer visits or additional planning
Our focus is safe, unrushed care tailored to each pet’s routine and comfort level.
