What is Cat Sitting?

Cat sitting is a professional in-home pet care service where a trained caregiver visits your home to provide daily care while you’re away. Rather than transporting your cat to a boarding environment, cat sitting allows them to remain comfortable in their familiar surroundings and maintain their usual routine.
During visits, your sitter supports feeding, litter box care, enrichment, and overall well-being — while also monitoring for subtle changes in behaviour, appetite, or health.
For many cats, especially those who are shy, senior, or medically complex, in-home care offers a calmer and less stressful alternative to boarding.
What's Included
Each visit is customized, but may include:
- Feeding and fresh water
- Litter box cleaning and monitoring
- Medication administration (oral, topical, insulin, etc.)
- Gentle play, enrichment, or quiet companionship
- Monitoring appetite, behaviour, and general health
- Photo and message updates
- Basic home care (mail collection, plant watering, light rotation of blinds/lights)

Medication & Treatment Support
Experienced Care
With a Registered Veterinary Technician leading our team, Vet Tech Pet Services is experienced in supporting cats requiring medication, insulin, post-surgical monitoring, and comfort care.
Our visits remain gentle and low-stress while ensuring your cat’s health, appetite, behaviour, and overall comfort are carefully observed.
This added layer of medical awareness offers reassurance for families with senior pets, chronic conditions, or cats needing extra attention while you’re away.
Medication & Special Needs
Our team is experienced in administering prescribed medications during scheduled pet sitting visits when appropriate. Care is provided calmly and thoughtfully to maintain your pet’s routine and comfort.
Support may include:
Oral medications
Topical / ear / eye treatments
Inhalers
Subcutaneous (SQ) fluids
Insulin injections
Basic wound or bandage checks
Post-surgical monitoring (non-emergency)
Bladder expression
Basic medication support may be included within your visit time. Pets requiring extended handling, strict timing, or more advanced care may benefit from a longer visit or our standalone Medical Assistance service.
Injections, SQ Fluids or more time specific medication will incur additional fees
